Allie Rae is a queer Southern feminist outcast from Knoxville, TN. She writes about personal growth through psycho-spiritual practices including tarot, witchcraft and radical self-acceptance. She believes everyone has story that matters and should be heard. Her fiction is often of the fantasy and horror genres, which she uses to explore the vulnerability of love in its many forms. 

One of her oldest friends named her Allie Rae.

Why You Should Make Zines

What the heck is a zine?  This is my least favorite question and it’s also the one I’m asked the most frequently. The reason I hate this question is because there isn’t really a good short answer. As soon as you try to define what a zine is, you find yourself excluding someone who definitely makes zines but they don’t fit your exact definition, This is because zines are so flexible. They are as individual as the people who make them. That being said, I tend to see two physical formats of zines. These are not the only way to make zines but they are the ones I see the most: Folded in half and stapled or sewn (like a booklet) can be a variety of sizes. One-pager cut in the center and folded into a 6 page book. Ok, so it’s usually a little book. What is a zine about?
